BJES Learning Community,

Welcome to Ben Johnson Elementary School and the 2017-2018 school year.  BJES has adopted the theme this year of “Believe in You”. At BJES, we believe that students can truly achieve anything, but one of the first steps to achieving their dreams is believing in themselves. We truly believe in our students and learning community, and we want our students to truly reach for the stars and never settle for less than their very best. BJES will continue in striving to meet the individual needs of every child, while having high expectations for instruction and maintaining a warm and inviting environment.

At BJES, we believe parents are our children's first and most important teachers, we need your cooperation and involvement to provide them with the best education possible.  We encourage our parents to take time to talk with your children about their school experiences. Every day, children will be encouraged to tell their parents three things they learned at school. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best. Maintain contact with your children's teachers and with me.  Ask questions and communicate concerns so that we can build a partnership which will ensure student success. Working together, anything is possible!

We also invite you to register via the BJES website for the NotifyMe text and email notification system and Class Dojo. There, you can receive newsletters, emails, and notifications of school closings or early dismissals.  We encourage you to volunteer at school.  If you are interested in volunteering, please call Christina Meredith with the Family Resource Center at 756-3070.  Parent volunteerism is vital to student success at BJES.

The Ben Johnson Parent Teacher Organization is an integral partner in our successful school program.  They generously provide us with funds to support our educational efforts.  They show appreciation to the students and staff in various ways during the year.  Please join us this year and support our Parent Teacher Organization.

The BJES faculty and staff are ready to serve you. If you have any questions, then please feel free to call the school office at 756-3070.  It is important for the educational success of your child and this school to maintain open and clear lines of communication. The 2017-2018 school year will be a year where we truly want to instill in our students to believe they truly can achieve anything, but the first step is to believe in themselves. GO WILDCATS!

Sincerely,

Michael Broadbent, BJES Principal

“Our only limitations exist in our expectations.

If we believe it, then we can achieve it.”

If you wish to come in, park in one of the parking spaces. Help us keep your children safe.

In order to maintain a safe environment for all of our students, it is required that all visitors, including parents and volunteers/chaperones, follow the visitor’s policy posted on the front door and in the front lobby.

The visitor’s policy is as follows:  All visitors and parents must report to the office to sign in.  If a visitor needs to go to another part of the building, then he/she will be issued a visitor’s pass and asked to sign his/her name electronically on the visitor’s log in the office.  When the visitor leaves the school, he/she needs to return the pass to the office and log out.
