January 14, 2019

BJES Learning Community,

Winter weather has calmed down a little over the last couple of weeks in the Breckinridge County School District, but many of you may have questions about future missed days and whether or not those days will be NTI (Non-Traditional Instruction) days. Please feel free to read below for important information concerning your questions.

  • School will be in session on February 18, 2019 (Presidents' Day)

  • Our last day for students is still Wednesday, May 22, 2019 as of January 14, 2019

  • We can still miss one more day before utilizing NTI

BJES has already sent home NTI envelopes. Inside this envelope, was five stapled packets for five different NTI snow days. Please make sure this envelope is in a safe place until needed for designated NTI snow days.  All of the information in the packets is also available at the following web address, You will know which NTI snow day packet to work on via Notify Me notifications, Classroom DoJo, district and school Facebook, Twitter, local radio announcements, and school notices. Please stay tuned!

The Breckinridge County School District will communicate whether a missed day is a NTI day or not. For example, the district's Notify Me message will state whether the day is NTI or not. Please feel free to contact BJES with any questions or concerns that you may have. Please understand that this will be a learning process for us all as we begin to utilize NTI. Together, we will make adjustments and provide an effective learning experience for all of our students.

If you or your child needs help on an NTI snow day, your child’s teacher will be available to assist you throughout the day from 8am-3pm via email or ClassDojo. You may also contact me via email at or via ClassDojo. Thank you for your support!
